Bible Teacher in Public Schools
The Position
Approved volunteers are urgently needed to teach 30-minute Bible classes in Australian public schools. This is a required part of the curriculum in some states, though attendance is voluntary. The school year runs from February to mid-December so a minimum of one year is required for this position. By teaching the same lesson each week in multiple schools, this can easily be a full-time ministry commitment.
The Need
Imagine teaching children from all over the world – Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist – in a single classroom. This is what happens in Australia where the freedom to bring the Bible into public schools still exists. Every week, tens of thousands of Australian children memorize Bible verses, answer Bible questions and, most importantly, hear the gospel in their public school classroom. Every year, many are saved. For nearly all, this is the only opportunity they have to learn about Christ.
The Impact
The best time to reach someone with the gospel is when they are young. This gives an entire lifetime to serve and honor the Lord. One child who was saved at school has gone on to be a youth pastor. There have been many more like him. Others have persuaded their families to go to church.
