Missionary Kid (MK) Teacher
The Position
Our growing team of missionaries are searching for a teacher to teach missionary children. Our current students are in grades K5, 4th, and 7th. The missionary families are eager to work with the teacher in choosing curriculums, etc. The missionary families would be responsible for providing all curriculums, books, and supplies needed for teaching. Candidates must have a love for children, teaching, and must fulfill ABWE’s short, mid, or long term missionary requirements. The current missionary location is coastal Ecuador.
The Need
Ecuador is filled with incredible diversity. From the Andean peaks to the deep Amazon jungle, and from the Pacific coast to the thriving metropolitan cities, the landscapes are just as diverse as its population of 18 million people. Many Ecuadorians have Mestizo heritage as descendants of Spanish colonists and indigenous Indians. Ecuador hosts multiple indigenous groups that hold to the traditional dress and culture of their forefathers. Approximately 77% of Ecuadorians claim to be Roman Catholic and another 11% as evangelical believers. The growth of the evangelical church contributes to the great need for Christian missions in Ecuador with sound biblical teaching and solid church planting.
The Impact
The foundation of faith is understanding, and the foundation of understanding is education. MK teachers have the unique opportunity to use the classroom as their place of ministry. Along with teaching grammar and algebra, teachers disciple their students and point them to the ultimate teacher, Jesus. The world needs more teachers that firmly believe a biblically-based education is integral in raising up strong followers of Christ.
