Luba ministers with pro-life pregnancy resource centers. In Ukraine, these challenges are made more intense because of the war in their nation. At the Women’s Center location, clients receive resources like  food products, diapers, clothing, parenting courses, and childbirth preparation classes, along with supportive relationships for young moms.

Because of the crisis in Ukraine, the needs of families, including expectant or new moms, are greater. The center there continues to come alongside moms and moms-to-be, helping them manage their pregnancies and care for their children in traumatic times. Many vulnerable moms continue receiving care after fleeing their homes and finding refuge in strange cities. Luba’s greatest desire and prayer is that every woman served would find and receive God’s love and provision of peace no matter her circumstances. Luba continues to connect moms to these supports, even in the midst of the upheaval they all share. Luba continues to care for moms remotely, in and out of Ukraine. This is one way Luba ministers to women in need.

Imagine the difficulties for women facing many challenges before the war, who now have had to travel hundreds of miles as refugees. They depend on the kindness of unknown allies. The counselors of the women’s center try to stay in contact. Luba tells of one woman who fled from Odessa to Germany with three small children. “I am so thankful for the safety, support, and care that they receive in a new place for now.”

Others Choose to Stay

Other women are faced with the complex decision of going or staying in Odessa. Now that Odessa is a major target of the Russian army, it is a very dangerous place. One of the women Luba serves is alone and afraid. Should she flee or stay and hope the battle passes her by? Luba asks us to pray. “May God give her peace for her heart and help her make the right decisions for her family!” They met for Bible lessons before, but now are staying in touch to read Psalms and pray together.

Meet the Leader: Luba Abramova

Luba Abramova

Luba Abramova was raised by parents who knew and followed Jesus, despite the challenges that came with it in the then Soviet Union. Luba trusted Christ herself as a child.

Luba has been serving the Lord alongside her husband, Alex. She focuses on ministry to women, moms and moms-to-be, facing difficult situations made heavier by the war and crisis in Ukraine. After Luba was involved in the translation of a Bible study for post-abortive women in 2010, God touched and burden her heart with the desire to be involved in this ministry of helping women learn the value of life from conception to death. At that time, so many women in Ukraine terminated the lives of their unborn children. Luba knew God was calling her to minister to pregnant women with the hope of the gospel.
